Ambassador Sigutė Jakštonytė presented the letters of credence to the President of Namibia
The Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania to the Republic of South Africa and to the Republic of Angola Sigutė Jakštonytė presented her letters of credence to the President of the Republic of Namibia Hage Geingob on 11 August in Windhoek.
During the meeting with the President of Namibia, the current bilateral affairs were discussed- the facilitation of the economic and academic cooperation, the growth of tourism, the simplification of visa regime and the cooperation of both countries in international organizations.
In the capital of Namibia, after the ceremony, the Ambassador invited Namibian business to explore Lithuanian achievements in high-end technologies, information technologies and the opportunity for young Namibians to study in Lithuania.
During the meeting with the Deputy-Prime Minister, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, the Ambassador expressed Lithuanian determination to strengthen bilateral relations and mutually useful cooperation in international organizations. The prospects of signing the Memorandum for bilateral consultations between both parties were also discussed.
Sigutė Jakštonytė is the first Lithuanian ambassador accredited to Namibia and residing in South Africa. Lithuania and Namibia established diplomatic relations on 22 December 2005.
