Ambassador Sigutė Jakštonytė presents her letters of credence to President of Botswana
On 26 October in Gaborone, the capital city of the Republic of Botswana, the Ambassador of Lithuania to the Republic of South Africa, the Republic of Angola and the republic of Namibia Sigutė Jakštonytė presented her letters of credence to the President of Botswana Seretse Khama Ian Khama.
In the conversation with the President, the Ambassador discussed important bilateral issues, including the promotion of economic and academic cooperation, tourism development and cooperation in international organisations. The Ambassador invited the Botswanan business to take advantage of Lithuania’s achievements in the field of higher and information technology and of the opportunity for youth to study in Lithuania.
During the meeting with the Minister of International Affairs and Cooperation Dr Pelonomi Venson Moitoi, the Ambassador expressed Lithuanian intentions to strengthen bilateral relations and cooperation in international organizations.
Sigutė Jakštonytė is the first Ambassador of Lithuania accredited to Botswana, who resides in the Republic of South Africa. Lithuania and Botswana established diplomatic relations on 17 February 2004.
