      We encourage all citizens of the Republic of Lithuania who will be in South Africa during the elections and who have not yet registered to vote in the Presidential elections and the referendum on the amendment of the Constitution to preserve Lithuanian citizenship to register at http://rinkejopuslapis.lt.

       We invite you to come and vote at the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania in Pretoria or Johannesburg.

       Voting at the Embassy in PRETORIA will take place:

      8th May from 13:00 to 17:00 (local time)

      10th May from 12:00 to 16:00 (local time)

      Sunday, 12th May from 10:00 to 19:00 (local time)

       Voting in Johannesburg will take place on 12th May only.

      IMPORTANT: The location and time of voting in Johannesburg on 12th May will be sent by email via http://rinkejopuslapis.lt to voters who have pre-registered to vote at the Embassy.

       We are looking forward to seeing you at the Embassy in Pretoria and at the polling station in Johannesburg!

      Presidential elections, and a mandatory referendum on the aquisition of Lithuanian citizenship will take place on 12 May 2024.

      The Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania in the Republic of South Africa invites every citizen of Lithuania residing abroad or visiting South Africa who is over the age of 18 and eligible to vote to register for voting by post or in person in the Presidential election and the Referendum on Lithuanian citizenship (Amendment of Article 12 of the Constitution). Voters who have registered to vote in the Presidential elections will be deemed to have registered for the referendum.

      IMPORTANT!  23th of April is a final date for registration to vote by post in South Africa

      We stongly invite you to vote! 

      If you plan to vote by post, please register by 23 April at www.rinkejopuslapis.lt

      Those who have not registered to vote by post by 23 April will be able to register and vote in person at the Embassy of Lithuania in Pretoria.

      H.E. Ms Rasa Jankauskaite, Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania, attended a memorial event in Johannesburg Holocaust & Genocide Centre (JHGC) to honor Jewish victims of the Holocaust in Lithuania and commemorate the 80th anniversary of the liquidation of the Vilnius Ghetto.

      “Every September, we are not only commemorating the millions of innocent lives lost during the Holocaust, but we are also renewing our commitment to ensure that such atrocities never happen again “, - emphasized Ambassador addressing the Holocaust survivors and their relatives, members of Johannesburg Jewish community and other guests.

      Tali Naten, Director of Johannesburg Holocaust & Genocide Centre (JHGC), and H.E. Paul Jansen, the Belgian Ambassador to South Africa also welcomed the guests.

      After the changes in the Law on the Legal Status of Foreigners came into effect on 1 July, foreigners who are not in Lithuania will apply for national visas only through the external service provider chosen by the Migration Department. Until now, such applications were accepted by Lithuanian diplomatic missions, consular offices or visa centers abroad selected by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
