Ambassador Sigutė Jakštonytė presented her letters of credence to the President of Angola
On 17 March, Lithuanian Ambassador to South Africa presented her letters of credence to the President of Angola Jose Eduardo Dos Santos.
The Ambassador discussed with the President Jose Eduardo Dos Santos and the Minister of Foreign Affairs Georges Chikoti the opportunities for the development of economic and political cooperation and the possibilities of signing bilateral agreements between Lithuania and Angola. Both parties expressed their satisfaction with the support both countries provide each other in international organizations.
The Ambassador discussed with the director of the European Directorate of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Francisco da Cruz the prospect of stronger bilateral cooperation, with the deputy director general of the Consular Services Martins Fernandes- the aspects of consular assistance. The Ambassador also met the Ambassador of European Union in Luanda- Tomas Ulincy.
Lithuania and Angola established diplomatic relations on 4 June 2002. Ambassador Jakštonytė is the first Lithuanian ambassador acredited to the Republic of Angola.
