Lithuanian Passport and ID Card
Lithuanian citizens residing in the Republic of South Africa may submit applications for the issuance or exchange of a passport and personal identity card in the following ways:
1. At the Embassy of Lithuania in Pretoria.
At the diplomatic mission, ID cards and passports are issued or exchanged in the standard manner. It may take 5–7 weeks from the day of application submission until the new document is received.
* Lithuanian citizens residing in Cape Town also have the option to submit applications during the embassy's consular officer's consular missions to Cape Town.
2. At the VFS Global External Service Centers in Johannesburg and Cape Town

Conditions and Required Documents for Issuance or Exchange of a Personal Identity Card or Passport

Validity of a Passport and Personal Identity Card
- For a child under 5 years of age, the issued passport and personal identity card are valid for 2 years.
- For a minor from 5 to 16 years of age, the issued passport and personal identity card are valid for 5 years.
- For an individual from 16 to 70 years of age, the issued passport and personal identity card are valid for 10 years.
- For an individual from 70 years of age, the issued passport is valid for 10 years, and the personal identity card is valid for 30 years.
Information Regarding the Shipment of Completed Documents by Courier
- Upon your request, completed personal documents can be sent to you by courier.
- You are responsible for ordering the courier service yourself.
Important: If you have ordered a passport, a personal identity card, and the card's contact medium certificates, you will need to order a courier for two separate shipments. The first shipment will contain the personal identity card. Once you inform the embassy that you have received the card, the second shipment will be sent with your passport and the PIN code for the ID card's contact medium certificates.
