How to Apply for a Passport or Personal Identity Card at the Embassy
- An application for the exchange or issuance of a personal identity card or passport for a Lithuanian citizen aged 16 or over must be submitted in person at the embassy.
- Prior to your visit, an appointment must be booked through the KONSREG system.
- During the visit, the applicant will be photographed, and their fingerprints and signature will be scanned.
Required Documents for Submission
- A Lithuanian citizen's passport and/or personal identity card.
- To order a personal document at the embassy, your permanent place of residence must be declared abroad. Your place of residence abroad is declared by submitting a departure declaration. If you have not done this, the declaration can be submitted during your visit to the embassy. If your permanent place of residence is in Lithuania and you do not wish to declare your departure, the document can only be ordered in Lithuania.
- You do not need to bring photos—you will be photographed on-site.
Attention: When exchanging a passport or personal identity card due to a name change after a marriage or divorce abroad, you must also provide documents for the registration of the marriage or divorce in the Republic of Lithuania and the name change.
Attention: If a minor aged 16–17 who was born abroad applies for their first Lithuanian passport or personal identity card, this service can only be provided if their birth is registered in Lithuania. If the birth is not registered in Lithuania, the minor's parents must first complete this action, and only then can the individual apply for the personal document.
Note: If needed, the consular officer has the right to request that the applicant provide additional documents and/or clarify the information submitted.
