Reinstatement of Citizenship

As of November 15, 2021, all applications for reinstatement of Lithuanian citizenship and notifications about acquiring the citizenship of another state must be submitted online through the Lithuanian Migration Information System, MIGRIS.

Submitting original documents at the Embassy

When filling out the application in MIGRIS, select the option to submit the original documents at the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania in South Africa.
The Migration Department will perform a preliminary online assessment of your uploaded documents.
If your application is successful, the Migration Department will send you a notification through the MIGRIS system requiring you to appear in person at the Embassy within 4 months to present the original documents for verification.
Upon receiving this notification, you can book your consular appointment by emailing us at kons.za@urm.lt and attaching the MIGRIS notification.
Consular fee for verification of the documents submitted to MIGRIS system is 60 EUR per application, payable in ZAR by bank card only.
