Registration of the death of a Lithuanian citizen who died abroad

The embassy accepts applications to register the death of a Lithuanian citizen who died abroad and forwards them to a civil registry office in Lithuania. Relatives, family members, or any other interested party may apply. Documents must be submitted in person (prior appointment by email at kons.za@urm.lt is required).
Required Documents:
- Application to register the death of a citizen who died abroad. DOWNLOAD
- Applicant's identity document (valid Lithuanian passport or ID card).
- Foreign-issued death document (death certificate or death record extract) translated into Lithuanian.
- Deceased person's Lithuanian passport or ID card (if available).
- Consular fee: No fee is charged for accepting and forwarding death registration documents.
If you wish to obtain a death record extract, please also submit:
- Application to issue an extract certifying a vital record entry at the diplomatic mission. DOWNLOAD
- Consular fee for the extract: 20 EUR.
