Ambassador Rasa Jankauskaitė Attends Ukrainian Embassy Event Honouring Children Affected by War

On April 11, Ambassador Rasa Jankauskaitė attended an event at the Market Theatre hosted by the Embassy of Ukraine, dedicated to more than 20,000 Ukrainian children who have been killed or forcibly taken from Ukraine to Russia.

The evening featured a powerful artistic installation and an exhibition of drawings by Ukrainian children depicting the impact of Russia’s war against Ukraine. The presentation included a burned children’s birthday table, six hundred bricks symbolizing each murdered child, and twenty thousand grains of wheat representing each abducted child. The installation, together with children’s faces and voices, conveyed the profound loss of childhood caused by the war. The event concluded with a performance by the well-known Ukrainian group “Dakh Daughters.” The evening served as a strong reminder that the consequences of the war in Ukraine are not distant or abstract, regardless of where we are.
