Ambassador Rasa Jankauskaitė Attends Yom HaShoah Commemoration in Johannesburg
On 14 April, Ambassador Rasa Jankauskaitė participated in the Yom HaShoah commemoration in Johannesburg. More than a thousand people gathered to honour the memory of six million Holocaust victims and those who survived this horrific tragedy.
A particularly powerful impression was left by the testimony of Wanda Albinska. As a child, she survived the Holocaust in the Warsaw Ghetto and was saved after being given a false identity. The message of the event remains relevant today. In the most difficult times, it is family and community that help us endure. Ensuring that history remains alive and is not distorted is a responsibility shared by all of us.
We extend our gratitude to the South African Jewish community for the invitation.
