Ambassador Rasa Jankauskaitė presented credentials to the President of Namibia

Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania Rasa Jankauskaitė presented her credentials to the President of the Republic of Namibia, Dr. Nangolo Mbumba, on January 31.

Following the official ceremony, the Ambassador and the President had a conversation. Ambassador Rasa Jankauskaitė expressed her delight at the fact that this year, Lithuania and Namibia will celebrate the twentieth anniversary of diplomatic relations. During the meeting, prospects for bilateral relations between Lithuania and Namibia, the security situation in Europe, and global geopolitical challenges were also addressed.

“Lithuania and Namibia are united by a similar and important experience for both countries – the aspiration and struggle for freedom and independence. As two small countries with open economies, dependent on trade with neighboring countries and distant partners, we also have a common interest in supporting a rules-based multilateral system and ensuring international peace and security,” said the Ambassador.

On January 29, Ambassador Rasa Jankauskaitė presented copies of her credentials to the Minister of International Relations and Cooperation of Namibia, Dr. Peya Mushelenga. Lithuania and Namibia established official diplomatic relations on December 22, 2005. Rasa Jankauskaitė is the second Lithuanian Ambassador to Namibia, residing in the Republic of South Africa.
