Annual event of Lithuanian community before Christmas in Pretoria
On the 30th of November, annual event of Lithuanian Community held in Pretoria at the residence of Lithuanian Ambassador.
Speaking at the event, which has already become a tradition, Lithuanian Ambassador Rasa Jankauskaitė thanked representatives of the Lithuanian community for their active participation in this year’s elections and referendum on preserving Lithuania’s citizenship.
The Ambassador also presented the Embassy's plans for the next year, invited the Lithuanian community to participate actively in the events and initiatives of the Lithuanian Embassy, and to submit proposals for greater involvement of Lithuanians in community activities.
At the decorated Christmas tree, the children were unexpectedly greeted by Santa Claus, who had arrived for the celebration and was pleased with the preparations of Lithuanians in South Africa to celebrate Christmas in a festive manner. The festive table was full of Lithuanian accents - from herring to traditional cranberry Christmas Eve drink “Kisielius” and biscuits “Kūčiukai”.
