Commemorating the International Holocaust Remembrance DayThe exhibition of the photographer Raimondas Paknys was opened in Durban

On 26 January 2017 commemorating the International Holocaust Remembrance Day the embassy of Lithuania to South Africa opened the exhibition of the photographer Raimondas Paknys "The Sounds of Silence" at the Holocaust Center in Durban.

Ambassador S.Jakštonytė opening the exhibition noted that "with the opening of this  exhibition we joined the World Jewish Congress's international campaign #Weremember”.

Thirty photographs by R.Paknys capture the synagogues, cemeteries and other Jewish heritage in Lithuania, and what has remained after the Holocaust and the Soviet neglect. The guests were also introduced to the Jewish heritage reconstruction projects that have been implemented recently, or are currently being implemented in Lithuania.

Before arriving to South Africa the exhibition was showed in Vilnius, London, Jerusalem and Paris.
