Embassy of Lithuania hosted a seminar "Art During a Time of (Political) Exclusion"
On 23 October 2025, the Embassy of Lithuania in Pretoria, in collaboration with the University of Pretoria and the Javett Art Centre, hosted a seminar "Art During a Time of (Political) Exclusion".
The seminar explored how art can contribute to political and social inclusion, highlighting community outreach and educational programs implemented by the Javett Art Centre and the Lithuanian non-governmental organization ArtScape. Special attention was given to the shared experiences of Lithuania and South Africa, focusing on identifying common points of engagement and potential avenues for future collaboration.
Following the seminar, Ambassador Rasa Jankauskaitė welcomed Aistė Ulubey, founder of ArtScape, to the Lithuanian Embassy. The meeting focused on opportunities for continued collaboration and initiatives aimed at strengthening art and social inclusion. Cooperation between South African and Lithuanian organizations in the arts sector could provide a solid foundation for joint programmes.
