Journalist from South Africa to Explore Lithuania’s Culture, Innovation and Traditions
On 18 June 2026, the Ambassador of Lithuania to the Republic of South Africa, R. Jankauskaitė, met with South African journalist Marion Kate Smith ahead of her visit to Lithuania, scheduled for 22–27 June 2026. The meeting focused on the programme and key elements of the upcoming visit.
During her stay, the journalist will be introduced to Lithuania’s culture, history and arts, as well as its innovation sector, life sciences and biotechnology, and gastronomic traditions. She will also participate in the Joninės (Midsummer) celebrations in Kernavė, one of Lithuania’s most distinctive summer traditions, offering an opportunity to experience the country’s cultural heritage and customs first-hand.
Ambassador R. Jankauskaitė wished the journalist a productive visit to Lithuania and underlined the importance of such visits in strengthening bilateral relations, enhancing Lithuania’s visibility in South Africa, and fostering cultural and media cooperation.
