Lithuania Participated in the 4th Session of the Partnership Dialogue between the Republic of Mozambique and the European Union

On 17 June, the Embassy of Lithuania joined the 4th Session of the Partnership Dialogue between the Republic of Mozambique and the European Union in Maputo.

The Dialogue, co-chaired by Patricia Llombart, Executive Director for Africa at the European External Action Service, and Maria Manuela Lucas, Mozambique’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, brought together representatives of Mozambique and EU Member States to advance shared priorities and further strengthen cooperation..

Discussions focused on key areas of the EU–Mozambique partnership, including strengthening governance, macroeconomic stability, reforms and sustainable economic development through the Inclusive National Dialogue. Security issues were also addressed, including the situation in Cabo Delgado and continued European Union support through the EUMAM Mozambique mission and assistance measures under the European Peace Facility.

The Dialogue further covered geopolitical and global affairs, including multilateralism, international security, regional dynamics in Southern Africa and maritime security. Exchanges also addressed current international developments, including Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine, concerns over reports of foreign nationals, including young Africans, being recruited and involved in Russia’s war against Ukraine, and the situation in the Middle East.

Lithuania values the partnership between the European Union and Mozambique and supports continued dialogue aimed at promoting peace, stability, sustainable development and effective multilateral cooperation.
