Lithuanian Ambassador paid tribute to all lives lost in wars at the wreath-laying ceremony in Pretoria
On 9 May, 2025 the Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania HE Ms Rasa Jankauskaite attended a wreath-laying ceremony at Freedom Park in Pretoria, organised by the Embassy of Ukraine in South Africa and Freedom Park Heritage Site.
During the ceremony, the participants paid tribute to those who lost their lives in wars and fighting for the freedom. The Lithuanian Ambassador also honored the memory of all the defenders who gave their lives and expressed solidarity with Ukraine, a country that today is bravely defending not only its own freedom but also fighting for the security of the whole Europe. The ceremony was attended by the heads and other representatives of diplomatic missions accredited in South Africa, members of local veterans' organisations and the Ukrainian community.
Freedom Park is a national heritage site, and a memorial dedicated to honouring those who have fought and died for peace, human rights and justice in South Africa and around the world. The ceremony served as an important reminder of the cost and value of freedom, uniting nations and fostering a sense of international community.
