Lithuanian Ambassador Presents Credentials to His Majesty King Letsie III of Lesotho

On December 3, 2025, in Maseru, Lithuanian Ambassador Rasa Jankauskaitė presented her Letters of Credence to His Majesty King Letsie III. During the ceremony, the Ambassador emphasised Lithuania’s aspiration to further strengthen bilateral relations and to enhance cooperation within international organisations in addressing global challenges and reinforcing the architecture of international peace and security.

During her visit, Ambassador Jankauskaitė met with Lesotho’s Deputy Prime Minister, Justice Nthomeng Majara; Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Relations, Lejone Mpotjoana; the Ministry’s Principal Secretary, Thabang Lekhela; and Minister of Communications, Science and Technology, Nthati Moorosi. The discussions focused on Lesotho’s key priorities: institutional reform, strengthening public service capacities, renewable energy development, water resource management, agricultural modernisation, digitalisation, and tourism growth.

The Ambassador underscored Lithuania’s readiness to share its knowledge and expertise, particularly in the field of public sector digitalisation. She noted that the Lithuanian company NRD is successfully implementing digitalisation projects in Lesotho and expressed Lithuania’s hope for continued cooperation. The Ambassador also thanked the Government of Lesotho for granting visa-free entry to Lithuanian citizens.

“I am pleased to contribute to the further strengthening of cooperation between our countries, and I believe that Lithuania’s experience can support Lesotho in advancing these important objectives. We highly value the visa-free regime for Lithuanian citizens, which opens new opportunities for our people and businesses,” the Ambassador stated.

In the meetings, Ambassador Jankauskaitė also highlighted the shared commitment of Lithuania and Lesotho to defending a rules-based international order and the importance of jointly supporting Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity in international organisations.

Lithuania and Lesotho established diplomatic relations on 20 July 2000. Ambassador Rasa Jankauskaitė is the second Lithuanian Ambassador accredited to Lesotho.
