Lithuanian and South African political consultations in Pretoria

On 27 January, the representatives from Lithuanian and South African Ministries of Foreign Affairs met for political consultations in Pretoria. During the consultations, the ideas about the future of political and economic cooperation between both countries were exchanged, the priorities for economic cooperation were identified.

 
Lithuanian delegation, chaired by the director of the Latin America, Africa, Asia and Oceania Department Mr Eduardas Borisovas, met South African counterparts, chaired by Deputy Director General of the Americas and Europe Directorate of the Department of International Relations and Cooperation Ms Judith Yolisa Maya.
The preparations of economic and financial agreements between two countries and for the visit of high-ranking officials were also discussed at the meeting. Lithuanian delegation put an emphasis on the facilitation of traveling of Lithuanians to South Africa.
Lithuanian and South Africa commenced diplomatic relations on 11 November 1991; the last political consultations took place in Vilnius in 2009.
