Lithuanian Embassy in South Africa is stepping up efforts to improve access to consular services

Dear current and future Lithuanian citizens, As Ambassador of Lithuania to South Africa, I keep the issue of access to consular services of the highest standards on the top of my list of priorities. We do our best to increase the speed of service to reduce waiting times, but we ask for your patience while booking the time slot for a visit.

Rapidly increasing number of Lithuanian citizens living in South Africa exceeds our capacity to process passport applications in a timely manner. COVID-19 and subsequent precautionary measures put an additional strain on our joint efforts to ensure safer access to consular services.

I’m pleased to announce that Embassy implemented an overhaul of processing of the biometric information to provide the most modern and safest service. From now on, collection of biometric data is done at the Embassy, eliminating the need to bring along the photos and increasing the overall quality of the documents for the citizens of the Republic of Lithuania.

In order to improve the access to consular services, we will open multiple additional registration calendar/time slots for the passport applications for November, as we will have a consular officer on loan from the Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Our booking system for November will be opened on the 20th of October at 9:00 at https://keliauk.urm.lt/en/consult-registration/embassy/60. We thank all applicants who arrive on time, follow instructions and are fully prepared to apply and pay for their passports.

After the long break, I’m glad to announce that the consular mission to Cape Town will take place in November, details to follow shortly. In order to help those waiting the longest, a certain amount of appointments will be allocated to those, whose citizenship status was approved before 2020 (in 2019 and earlier). We also invite Lithuanian citizens who cannot travel to Pretoria due to serious health conditions (hospitals, nursing homes) to contact us as well.

I want to ensure all citizens of Lithuania residing in South Africa, that Embassy will continue to strive harder to ensure the quality of consular services we provide.

Sincerely Yours,

Dainius Junevičius
