Marking three years of resilience, bravery and strength of Ukraine

Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania Rasa Jankauskaitė attended the screening of the documentary "Family Album" by Samara Pearce and Maryna Tkachuk upon the invitation of the Embassy of Ukraine to South Africa on February 24.

The event was dedicated to the commemoration of the third anniversary of Russia's full-scale invasion and war of aggression against Ukraine.

The documentary reveals striking similarities between the Holodomor and today’s war — both attacks on Ukraine’s identity, existence, and resilience.

History shows that impunity leads to repetition. That’s why remembering, speaking out, and ensuring accountability for the war crimes and the atrocities against the population of Ukraine are essential. Ukraine fights not only for its future but for long-overdue justice.

Holodomor is а genocide of the Ukrainian nation committed in 1932–1933. The leadership of the Soviet Union committed it in order to suppress Ukrainians and ultimately eliminate Ukrainian resistance to the regime, including efforts to build an independent Ukrainian state.
