The Embassy of Lithuania in South Africa joins the international “16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence” campaign

From 25 November to 10 December, the world observes the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence — a global campaign calling for action, awareness, and solidarity to end violence against women and girls.

By participating in this international initiative, the Embassy of Lithuania in South Africa expresses its support for all women and girls who have experienced violence and stands with partners around the world in advocating for safety, dignity, and equality.

The Embassy lit up in orange, the signature colour of the Orange the World campaign, symbolising hope, solidarity, and the vision of a future free from violence. In South Africa, this day is also marked with black, a powerful colour of remembrance and resistance. This was exemplified by initiatives such as the University of Pretoria’s silent protest, where students called for accountability and emphasized zero tolerance for gender-based violence.

While the colours may differ, the message is the same:
Prevent violence. Support survivors. Build a world where every woman and girl can live safely and with dignity.
