The exhibition of Lithuanian artists is opening in Johannesburg

On 24 August, Johannesburg’s Holocaust and Genocide Centre is starting to host the exhibition of Lithuanian contemporary artists- Zakhor! Imaginations of the former Jewish Vilne in modern Lithuanian Art.

The exhibition is dedicated to the reflections of Jewish history of Vilnius which was one of the biggest cultural and religious Jewish centres of Eastern Europe. Multicultural city with its 100 synagogues, symbolically was called Northern Jerusalem. Vilnius was the city which gave the world famous Jewish intellectuals, scientist, philosophers, rabbis, publishers and artists.
The exhibition was also showcased in May- June at the Jewish Museum in Cape Town.
