INFORMATION FOR FAMILY MEMBERS OF AN EU CITIZEN OR A CITIZEN OF AN EFTA MEMBER STATE

Check information for family members of an EU/EEA citizen or a citizen of an EFTA member state

The family members of EU/EEA/EFTA citizens (children, parents or spouses) should present the documents to prove their family relationship (EU/EEA/EFTA country citizen passport and marriage/birth certificate).

Schengen Visa for family members of non-Lithuanian EU/EEA/EFTA citizens

An applicant has to be either:

• a spouse or a partner in life or a relative in the direct descending line of a EU/EEA/EFTA citizen or
• a relative in the direct descending line of the spouse or registered partner in life of a EU/EEA/EFTA citizen and are under 21 years of age or
• a relative in the direct ascending and direct descending line of a EU/EEA/EFTA citizen or of his/her spouse or registered partner in life, for whom these persons or their spouses or partners in life provide maintenance and the relevant EU/EEA/EFTA citizen lives in Lithuania

If above listed criteria are met the applicant may apply for a visa directly at the Lithuanian Embassy in Pretoria, South Africa.

For a family member of a non-Lithuanian EU/EEA/EFTA citizen is recommended to schedule an appointment by writing an email to kons.za@urm.lt to avoid extended waiting times.

According to the Visa Code, the Embassy of Lithuania in South Africa is only responsible for processing application if your main destination is Lithuania.

Submission of false documentation or incorrect information will most likely result in a refusal or even a travel ban to Lithuania and other Schengen States.

The submission of incomplete documentation can result in a refusal. The Lithuanian Embassy in South Africa reserve the right to ask for additional documentation at any time during the processing of the application whenever deemed necessary.

Documentation sent via e-mail, courier or post, which has not been requested, will not be allocated to an application.

Please read the checklist and fill out the application form thoroughly. The printed and signed checklist has to be submitted with the visa application.
