REQUREMENTS FOR TRAVEL MEDICAL INSURANCE FOR SCHENGEN STATES

Valid travel medical insurance is mandatory to apply for Schengen visa at the Embassy of Lithuania.

Travel medical insurance must comply with all the requirements of the regulation (EC) No 810/2009 of the European Parliament and the Council of 13th July 2009 and your medical travel policy must state that.

Travel medical insurance must cover any expenses that might arise in connection with repatriation for medical reasons, urgent medical attention and/or emergency hospital treatment or death, during the entire duration of stay or transit in the Schengen area. No Deductibles! No Excess!

Travel medical insurance policy must include full name, policy number, period and area of cover, medical coverage of ZAR equivalent to 30 000 EUR, and summarized schedule of benefits.

Travel medical insurance policy must contain valid contacts of the Insurance Company for the purpose of its verification.

Applicants for a multiple-entry visa shall prove that they are in possession of valid and adequate travel medical insurance covering the period of their first intended visit at the time of their application for a Schengen visa.
